FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY

Forensic psychology refers to the intersection of psychology and the law. As such, forensic (psycholegal) evaluations are conducted to assist the trier-of-fact (judge) in their decision making process by addressing specific questions, either in criminal or civil cases. Evaluations are conducted at various stages of litigation and can be used to identify mitigating factors. Forensic evaluations consist of various assessment methods, which may include structured interviews as well as effort, paper-and-pencil, and/or standardized tests. Results of forensic evaluations are typically provided to the referring attorney, which can consist of verbal feedback or a formal written report. In addition, testimony may be required of forensic evaluations.

I received specialized training in forensic psychology during my internship/residency at New York University's Bellevue Hospital, where I conducted evaluations on Bellevue’s locked Department of Correction (DOC) inpatient psychiatric unit, the Bronx Court Clinic, and Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center (a maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital). I also have worked at Twin Towers Correctional Facility, West Valley Detention Center, and Patton State Hospital (a maximum security forensic psychiatric hospital).

I have served as an expert and provides testimony on psycholegal issues pertaining to:
